MATHEMATICS LECTURER
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for four non-tenure-track lecturer positions for the 2009-2010 academic year. A lecturer may be considered for reappointment each year of employment, depending on performance, needs of the department and university, and continued availability of funding.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mathematics, and possibly in mathematics education or statistics depending upon qualifications; leadership and involvement in student-centered activities (for example, academic advising, mathematics placement, supervision of graduate teaching assistants, outreach activities, course coordination); and maintaining a modest program of professional or scholarly activity. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics or mathematics education; substantial evidence of high quality teaching; ability to teach a wide variety of lower division courses; and a strong academic record in mathematics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with substantial academic background in one of the above areas such as a PhD or similar extent of course work, ability to interact and communicate well with undergraduate students, leadership experience, abilities and experience that align well with department needs, and a commitment supportive of the multicultural needs of Northern Arizona University and the surrounding area.
