LogOn to MathSrv1

In the Math Lab or somewhere on campus

  • Connecting to MathSrv1 from a Windows computer:

In the math lab there are icons on the desktop for the Faculty and Classes shares; use either of these to connect.

If you're on campus you will need to use the following method:

Open My Computer and type \\mathsrv1  into the address bar (or click the link). If you have problems this link may work better - \\mathsrv1.math.nau.edu; if your computer is not on the domain this will bring up an authentication dialog. In the username section type either nau-students\username or nau\username, substituting your correct username and the correct domain prefix (nau-students or nau). Next include your password in that text box.

You should then be presented with access to the shares that are available to you.

  • Connecting to MathSrv1 from an OSX computer:

On the Finder menu bar, click Go, then Connect to Server. In the bottom text box type:
smb://mathsrv1.math.nau.edu
You will then be presented with a dialog with 3 text boxes. Put either nau-students or just nau in the top domain text box; put your username in the next and password last.

You should the be presented with a share choice dialog, choose either Faculty or Classes

From off campus you can connect via a web browser:

In a web browser, type http://mathsrv1.math.nau.edu in the address field. You will then get a login dialog (they are different depending on browser and operating system)

With Internet Explorer and XP it looks like this:

With Internet Explorer and W2K it looks like this:

Safari, Netscape and Mozilla have different login dialog, but effectively work the same way.
