Current Projects
- Dakini Valley, Arizona. A 148-acre off-the-grid ranch shelters orphaned animals including misplaced pets from Hurricane Katrina and several wolves. Dakini has requested help in expanding their services via renewable energy supply, water purification and provision, and composting on a grand scale.
- Puerto Lobos, Mexico. Along the eastern shore of the Gulf of California, this community has an inoperative solar-powered desalinization unit in need of remediation. The local community currently relies on truck delivery for limited clean water. EWB-NAU is planning a collaborative effort with the University of Sonora to bring fresh water back to Puerto Lobos.
- EWB-USA recently awarded a project in the community of Yua, Ghana to EWB-NAU. This multi-tiered project will focus on the provision and purification of water to the community, solar energy, and composting toilets. EWB-NAU will dedicate at least five years to Yua for project completion, project operation and maintenance education in the community, and community health tracking.
