Louis Agassiz Prize for Excellence in Writing
The College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences
is now accepting essays for the Louis Agassiz Prize for Writing Excellence.
To encourage and reward the writing skills of NAU undergraduate students, the Louis Agassiz Prize is awarded annually to the winner of an
essay competition.
In addition to the Louis Agassiz Prize ($1500), a second prize ($1000), and third prize ($500) may be awarded.
The 2007/2008 topic for the competition is:
The Limits of Scientific Knowledge:
- Are there limits about what science can tell us about nature?
- Are there things that are in principle beyond the limits of scientific knowledge?
- Can science ultimately reveal everything about nature?

Agassiz Prize Committee
All undergraduate students enrolled at NAU are eligible to participate.
Up to three awards will be given each year:
1st place - $1500
2nd place - $1000
3rd place - $500
