College of Engineering & Natural Sciences Research

At a doctoral - research intensive institution like NAU, research is critical for maintaining the quality and currency of faculty members, for preparing students for the professions and disciplines they are entering, for bringing to campus state of the art equipment and financial support for students and faculty. We strongly adhere to the conviction that learning through research and learning in the classroom are linked, complementary and essential to provide the highest quality education. As faculty in CENS, we are uniquely positioned as the largest “research entity” at NAU. Likewise, because of our strengths as a college and an institute (geographical, personnel, strategic mission) we have the opportunity to build on considerable research strengths and identify additional ones that should accompany our future growth. We are proud that the college values research and its eventual application to creating the highest-quality learning environment; today’s research is tomorrow’s textbook.
